Meet Our Team: Dedicated to Enhancing Vision and Lives

Dr. Kim Lalonde

I have been practicing optometry since 1999, after earning my Doctor of Optometry degree from the Université de Montréal. Providing care for my patients and ensuring they can function in everyday life while maintaining healthy eyes has always been fulfilling.

In 2014, one of my patients with an eye turn brought me an article on vision training. It showed that non-surgical solutions were available and that age was not a barrier. This discovery led me to pursue Vision Therapy. The timing was perfect, as my younger daughter was also having trouble with reading. This started a lifelong learning journey! Since then, I’ve completed over 400 hours of courses and continue expanding my knowledge through various educational resources.

In 2021, I left primary care optometry to focus exclusively on Vision Therapy. There is a tremendous need for this service, and I find great motivation in helping people significantly improve their lives. My team and I work together to foster a joyful environment where patients develop essential visual skills that translate into life strategies.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking my dog, and spending quality time with my husband and two daughters.

Dr. Lindsay Gallowitz

I am thrilled to provide eye care in Barrie, my new home since moving from Richmond Hill. Since high school, I’ve been drawn to optometry as a way to meet friendly people while caring for one of our most important senses: vision.

I earned my Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2017, following my Biomedical Science Degree from the University of Guelph. After graduating, I became fascinated with the idea that eyes are more than just “20/20 vision.” I realized that glasses don’t always solve certain visual symptoms. To deepen my understanding, I’ve taken numerous courses in visual processing and continue learning from my patients daily.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, skiing in the winter, and exploring Barrie with my husband. I look forward to helping you achieve your best vision!

My therapist was amazing and very encouraging.  The tasks were well explained and effective.  My only suggestion is to have regular time slots available for patients so it is at the same time every week.  Having said that I am very happy with the progress I have made and would highly recommend the program.

Thanks for identifying difficulties that my son was having with his vision (he was working much too hard!) and offering a solution. The most noticeable gains I have observed have been in his reading/writing skills, as well as in the sports he loves to play.  Everyone went above and beyond what I had expected!  Thank you!  From a truly grateful mom.

I started wearing glasses at a young age due to difficulty seeing things in the distance. Over time, my prescription became stronger each year, which was disappointing. It wasn’t until I worked with Dr. Lalonde that I truly understood myopia. Through Vision Therapy and contact lenses, we’ve been able to gradually decrease my prescription.

With a background in Early Childhood Education, I spent years working with young children in preschool settings. This passion for guiding and inspiring children has carried over into my work with younger patients. I’m committed to finding the right approach for each patient, working with those who face challenges such as learning difficulties, concussions, and strabismus.

When I’m not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my very active son and dancing with Simcoe Contemporary Dancers.

As a child, I was passionate about sports. I competed in figure skating for 13 years and played rugby for 2 years in my mid-teens. After suffering two concussions at 17, I began experiencing life-altering symptoms like daily headaches, dizziness, double vision, and light sensitivity. At 25, I realized these symptoms were not normal and discovered that my visual system had been under strain for nearly 8 years. Meeting Dr. Lalonde was a turning point, and I am now undergoing my own Vision Therapy program to recover from a traumatic brain injury.

I’m passionate about helping others who have suffered brain injuries and reassuring them that they’re not alone on this journey. I also have a background in Child Development and working with children on the spectrum, which helps me connect with younger patients.

Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, eating great food with friends and family, and taking my little dog on adventures.
